PVR -WIRA Release

Pleasant Valley Raceway Announces Promoting Partnership with WIRA

BOISE, ID (January 8, 2008) In a move preparing to bring full size dirt track racing back to the Treasure Valley for the first time in over 45 years, Mark and Denise Campbell, owners of Pleasant Valley Raceway and Dan Breach, President of the Western Idaho Racing Association have announced a partnership in promoting the 1/4-mile dirt oval program at Pleasant Valley Raceway, an 80 acre facility located south of Boise.  The two entities will team up to build the Oval Track operation that will be located at the front entrance of the facility.  The 2008 season will see an abbreviated racing schedule of 5 or 6 races (one a month) and several practices as the facility is broken in slowly in preparation for a full racing season in 2009.

Pleasant
Valley Raceway is Idahos most diverse Grass Roots Dirt Racing facility. It operates a MotorcyclePark with a full motocross track along with a Mud Drag Strip which features Idahos only local timed side-by-side all mud drag racing strip.  The new oval program will feature a 1/4-mile semi banked track with a smaller 1/8-mile flat dirt track on the inside of the larger oval.  Mark and Denise founded and built the facility in 2004 and have been owner operators since its inception.

Western Idaho Racing Association is a 37 year old non profit corporation that has helped with operations and track support in the
TreasureValley since 1971.  WIRA President Dan Breach says of the pairing This is a perfect fit for both Pleasant Valley Raceway and the Western Idaho Racing Association.  WIRA has the experience and background necessary to help build and operate this dirt track while turning it into the premier dirt racing facility in Idaho.  Dirt track racing has been missing from this part of the state for too many years and I look forward to bringing it back not only for the racers but to the fans as well.  Dan goes on to say We want to give the fans something different for their entertainment dollar and a dirt track will be the perfect venue to do that.  It will also give added exposure to the other exciting events held at the raceway so it should be a great deal for all of us.

The initial plans call for five classes of race cars to run the schedule at PVR.  The Modifieds, Street Stocks and Thunder Stocks will be the standard 8 cylinder classes while the Mini Stocks and Hornets will put their 4 cylinders to the test on the dirt.  There are also two demolition derbies planned on racing dates and a possible open comp race to end the season.  There are current negotiations for winged and wingless sprint car exhibition races to be staged at events during the 2008 season.  The first practice day at the racetrack will be
February 23rd, 2008.

The full schedule and classes will be released at a later date this spring.
