Outlaws and Mini sprints on the 1/8 mile ????

Hey Mark, we at SWIMM are interested in scheduling some races at the Oval next year. We are interested in the condition of the smaller track. I have heard that its a basically flat 1/8th mile track. If theres a chance to open it up to a 1/7 th mile, give it some bank and put down some haybales, we would like to schedule a few two day shows. We need to know what dates would be good for you so as to not conflict with your other tracks. Thanks, Rick

How many cars does SWIMM have?

600's -
250's -

If you make the 8th bigger that will chase off the potential Outlaw Kart fields

I think the Mini-Sprints are more suited to running on the 1/4

The outlaws love a track where they can stretch some legs. We arent proposing a big track, just a wider and more banked track. We have two tracks designed for outlaws and both have narrow straights and tight corners. They are designed for two wide with outlaws. When you get mini sprints on the track, they have a groove and a half to run. We only want a wider track. Since this track is new, we have the oppertunity to change it to a track more suited to a larger car. The outlaws wouldnt mind a wider track. Gives them a chance to go 4 or 5 wide. Case in point, OMC. As for car count, we have 50+ 250's in the valley and 20+ 600's. The problem seems to be politics at some tracks. SWIMM is trying to iron out the conflicts and rules this year by offering points funds and staying within the existing rules run by the local tracks. That allows the outlaws to run Sandhollow rules and the Mini sprints to run a blend of rules from OMC and Sandhollow. We are having a rules meeting in January and would like input from anyone and everyone. We ask it be constructive and not a whining session though.

We are widening the 1/4 mile, and reconfiguring the 1/8... to give it a better flow.  As far as race dates, we are working out our schedule and will post some dates soon.  For more info please e-mail us directly at mcampbell252@msn.com

Thank you all for your support.  We are looking forward to a new season with a variety of sports and events.

Hi Denise, we want to make sure to keep this in the forfront because we also are excited to run a different track next year. You mentioned changing the 1/8th mile track to make it flow better. Does that mean more bank and wider straights? We have a large track with OMC. We also have narrow tracks in Sandhollow and Rock Creek. We need a track where the larger cars can pass without hugging the haybales or the infield. Could you consider the larger cars needs when you change the flow? More bank and larger straights wouldnt affect the outlaws but it would make it safer for the larger cars.

What are you smoking. Mini sprint racing in this area is dead.  Most all the good cars and drivers are gone. from 1996-2005 it was huge at OMC. Now they are lucky to get a handfull of old outdated cars.  You would be lucky to get 4 or 5 old beater 250s and 2 or 3 600s.

Wow Mr. Knowitall. I think that the 600 and the 250 classes that they had at omc fought among themselves enough to destroy the classes they had? Pretty sure Rick Davis and his group have a large count (20+) of racers that do put on a pretty good show. At least they are trying to bring back those cars to this valley. Not everyone can afford a $15,000.00 600 micro sprint. The racers that they have are racing to have fun....not trying to be the next Jeff Gordon! (see how far any of that group has gone?) We raced with them (2007) at the Pepsi Shootout and enjoyed Ricks group alot.  Besides its always funny and upsetting to find people who want to run down other peoples interest. Usually those are the people who can't find their own ass with both hands! Well anyway good luck with your hornet career!....lol.
